Why a soil test should come before structural design

The soil under your plot decides the foundation. Guessing it can cost far more than the test itself.

Soil conditions vary widely across Dhaka, even between neighbouring plots. A foundation designed without test data is either unsafe or oversized.

A standard soil investigation reports bearing capacity and the depth of firm strata. With this, we can choose between shallow footings, a mat foundation or piles.

The cost of the test is small compared with the concrete and steel saved by designing to real conditions.
